The Detroit Pistons

Motor City Basketball

The Detroit Pistons, AKA "The Bad Boys" was founded in 1941, they were originally based out of Fort Wayne Indiana before relocating to Detroit, home of the Motor City. The Pistons were known for their grit and grind on the court, hence "The Bad Boys" and it helped with bringing three championships to the city of Detroit. The Pistons were a force to reckon with in the 90s, with notable players like Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Ben Wallace, Isaiah Thomas and Joe Dumars just to name a few, they were a problem for any opposing team and it often showed during play.

Despite their dominant years throughout the late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, it hasn't been that way recently. I actually think recently is an understatement because in 23’-24’ they recorded their worst record in franchise history by ending the year with a 14-68 record, and this was similar to the previous year which ended in a 17-65 record. It’s safe to say that it's been a while since their glory days however we’re seeing hope, with the acquisition of Cade Cunningham the Pistons have started to regain their momentum, making the playoffs in the 24’-25’ season for the first time since the 18’-19’ playing year. As a Detroit fan and supporter this is what we all want to see from our guys representing us and the home of the Motor City, “Detroit Basket-ball".
